Jazz in the Garden series at Newark Museum will include shows by Ron Carter, Lenny White

Bassist Ron Carter and drummer Lenny White will be among the performers at the 51st annual Jazz in the Garden series at the Newark Museum, which features five shows on Thursday afternoons, and two on Friday nights, in the museum’s Alice Ransom Dreyfuss Garden.

White, formerly of the groundbreaking fusion group Return to Forever, opens the series on July 7, performing with guitarist Tom Guarna and bassist Ben Williams. Carter, who has played with artists ranging from Miles Davis to Pat Metheny, closes it on Sept. 16.

Here is the schedule. Admission is $5 per Thursday show of $20 for all of them, $10 for Aug. 12, and $40 ($25 for museum members) for Sept. 16. For information, visit newarkmuseum.org/jazz-in-the-garden.

July 28, 12:15 p.m.: Percussionist Mino Cinelu: Reunion Drum Trio with singer Mayra Casales and drummer Madeleine Yayodele Nelson.
Aug. 4, 12:15 p.m.: Woody Shaw Legacy Ensemble.
Aug. 12, 6:30 p.m.: Jam Session with saxophonist Craig Handy and his band 2nd Line Smith.
Sept. 16, 6:30 p.m.: Ron Carter, with Jazz House Kids opening.
