The Hoboken Historical Museum‘s main current exhibit is “Frank Sinatra: The Man, the Voice, and the Fans,” and it has scheduled a number of events to complement it.
The 100th anniversary of the Hoboken native’s birth is Dec. 12.
Here’s a rundown of special events at the museum, which is at 1301 Hudson St. For information, visit hobokenmuseum.org.
Oct. 13, 7 p.m.: The museum will screen three short documentaries made by local filmmakers about Hoboken’s annual Sinatra Idol contest. The filmmakers will attend, and there will be a Sinatra trivia contest as well. Suggested $5 donation.
Oct. 17, 7 p.m.: Film Screening: “Jimmy Van Heusen: Swingin’ with Frank & Bing,” a documentary about the great songwriter (“All The Way,” “Come Fly With Me,” “Love and Marriage”) that aired in 2014 on PBS. The event will include a talk with filmmaker Jim Burns and Sinatra expert Charles Granata, the producer of the upcoming boxed set of Sinatra radio performances, Frank Sinatra: A Voice on Air (1935-1955). Suggested $5 donation.
Nov. 1, 4 p.m.: “First Sundays Sinatra Singers”: Tony Corrao, winner of the 2015 Sinatra Idol contest.
Nov. 22, 4 p.m.: Author Talk: Richard Muti, author of “Cent’Anni: The Sinatra Legend at 100.”
Nov. 29, 4 p.m.: Author Talk: James Kaplan, author of “Sinatra: The Chairman.”
Dec. 6, leaving museum at 2 p.m.: Frank Sinatra Bus Tour, exploring significant locations in Ol’ Blue Eyes’ early years in Hoboken. $10 per person, reservations required.
Dec. 6, 4 p.m.: “First Sundays Sinatra Singers”: David Arellano, winner of the 2010 Sinatra Idol contest.
Also, on Dec. 12, the museum will cosponsor the Frank Sinatra’s Centennial Birthday Party at the Stevens Institute of Technology’s Bissinger Room, with music by The Swingadelic Big Band and singers Zack Alexander, Tony Corrao, Greg Myers, Dave Arellano, Peter Cafasso and John Bauers.
