You Oughta Know: Remember Jones to honor Alanis Morissette, and adds second EP release show

by JAY LUSTIG

Remember Jones and Friends will pay tribute to Alanis Morissette at House of Independents in Asbury Park, June 16.

Remember Jones, whose July 4 show at the Asbury Hotel is sold out, has added a July 3 show as well.

Appropriately enough for a show that honors a singer-songwriter who influenced an entire generation of female rockers, Remember Jones has enlisted more than a dozen women to sing at the “Asbury Park Celebrates Alanis Morissette” concert he is producing at House of Independents in Asbury Park, June 16 at 8 p.m.

Reagan Richards (of Williams Honor), Brielle Von Hugel, Cat London, Bre Cade, Jamie Coppa, Lyndsey Smith, Tara Elliott, Bri LoBue, Jennifer Lampert, Tara Dente, Taylor Hope, Ashley Markowitz and Kayla Dillon will join Remember Jones himself in the cast of the show. The setlist will include Morissette’s breakthrough 1995 album Jagged Little Pill (including hit singles “You Oughta Know,” “Hand in My Pocket,” “Ironic” and “You Learn”) in its entirety, as well as other Morissette songs.

Also, now that Remembers Jones’ EP release party at the Baronet Rooftop of the Asbury Hotel, July 4, has sold out, a second show, July 3 at 7 p.m., has been added.

While the July 4 show will be a good viewing spot for fireworks in the sky, the July 3 show will feature onstage fireworks only.

The EP —the five-song Tranquilizer!  was recorded in Nashville and produced by Andrija Tokic, who has worked with Alabama Shakes, Hurray for the Riff Raff and others. It will be available at the show, and will be officially released later in July.

In the event of rain, one or both shows will move inside the hotel.
