U2 will bring a tour celebrating the 30th anniversary of its “The Joshua Tree” album to MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford in June.

U2 will celebrate the 30th anniversary of its landmark album The Joshua Tree by performing it in its entirety on a tour that comes to MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, June 28, with The Lumineers opening.

Tickets, priced from $35 to $280, go on sale Jan. 17 at 10 a.m., with pre-sales beginning Jan. 11. Visit ticketmaster.com.

(JAN. 17 Update: A second show has been added, June 29, with tickets going on sale Jan. 23 at 10 a.m.)

“It seems like we have come full circle from when The Joshua Tree songs were originally written, with global upheaval, extreme right wing politics and some fundamental human rights at risk,” said The Edge, in a press release. “To celebrate the album — as the songs seem so relevant and prescient of these times too — we decided to do these shows, it feels right for now. We’re looking forward to it.”

“Recently I listened back to The Joshua Tree for the first time in nearly 30 years … it’s quite an opera,” said Bono in the same press release. “A lot of emotions which feel strangely current, love, loss, broken dreams, seeking oblivion, polarisation … all the greats … I’ve sung some of these songs a lot … but never all of them. I’m up for it, if our audience is as excited as we are … it’s gonna be a great night.”

The Joshua Tree Tour 2017 will include dates in North America and Europe. It begins May 12 in Vancouver, and ends Aug. 1 in Brussels. Other East Coast dates include June 18 at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia; June 20 at FedEx Field in Hyattsville, Md.; and June 25 at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Mass.

The Joshua Tree — featuring No. 1 singles “With or Without You” and “I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For” as well as the Top 20 “Where the Streets Have No Name” — was U2’s fifth album, and its biggest worldwide hit, with more than 25 million copies sold.
