In a Christmas Day video message from U2 (see below), frontman Bono said the band plans to release a new album, Songs of Experience, in 2017, and also will be doing some “very special shows” to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the band’s The Joshua Tree album.

According to Billboard.com, it will be “a lengthy tour,” and is expected to include two nights at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford as well as a stop at next summer’s Bonnaroo festival in Manchester, Tenn.

U2 previously played at MetLife Stadium in 2011, when it was still known as New Meadowlands Stadium. The band also had shows in the building it replaced, Giants Stadium, in 2009, 1997 and 1992, and on the original Joshua Tree Tour in 1987.

The Joshua Tree — featuring No. 1 singles “With or Without You” and “I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For” as well as the Top 20 “Where the Streets Have No Name” — was U2’s fifth album, and its biggest worldwide hit, with more than 25 million copies sold.
