Gregg Cagno sings about his hometown in “Clinton Times.”

The title of singer-songwriter Gregg Cagno’s warm, nostalgic “Clinton Times,” from his 2014 album Worth the Wait, doesn’t refer to the eight years of Bill Clinton’s presidency, but to Cagno’s years growing up in Clinton:

We grew up sailing on the reservoir,
Clinton Point Theatre
Ice cream was never far, Daz-o-Del
Clinton Public K-8
North Hunterdon for high school days
I can’t think of a better way or a better place

Cagno also sings about some of the current events and popular songs of his youth, and brings the song into the present by observing his childhood friends, now with families of their own, and referring to the annual Black Potatoe Music Festival, at which he is a regular:

It’s a Black Potatoe moon
We’re singing tunes
… jammin’ out without a worry
Right here in our little town
Singing in our little town

This year’s Black Potatoe Music Festival takes place July 8-12, and Cagno performs at 3 p.m. July 12. For more information and the complete schedule, click here.
