BRANDON “TAZ” NIEDERAUER

The 17-year-old guitar phenom Brandon “Taz” Niederauer performed at the Stanhope House for the first time in January 2020.

It was “one of my favorite shows we’ve ever done,” he told Bob O’Donnell of the “Morning Dew” radio show, broadcast on Fairleigh Dickinson University radio station WFDU (you can listen to the whole interview below). “I love those small, intimate shows like that. You really get to be with your fans.”

The Stanhope House has been presenting shows by blues giants, as well as other artists, since the 1970s. Muddy Waters, John Lee Hooker, Stevie Ray Vaughan and Buddy Guy are among those who have appeared there.

“The walls definitely tell stories,” Niederauer told O’Donnell. “They’ve seen some crazy stuff, I’m sure. Probably stuff I can’t even fathom. The fact that I get to be a part of that history is absolutely mind-boggling, to me.”

Niederauer will return to the Stanhope House, May 7 at 6 p.m. He’ll be outdoors this time, though, on a newly built stage that is allowing the club to present shows there while they still can’t do so indoors, because of the pandemic.

“I’m super-excited,” Niederauer told O’Donnell. “I mean, how amazing is it that this amazing venue gets to finally return from COVID. And, you know, there’s a light at the end of the tunnel. I can’t wait to be a part of that.”

Niederauer made his national television debut at the age of 10 on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” and also performed on Broadway in “School of Rock”; in the 2018 television special “Jesus Christ Superstar Live in Concert,” which co-starred John Legend and Brandon Victor Dixon; and with musicians ranging from Gregg Allman to Lady Gaga.
