Little Steven Van Zandt pays tribute to B.B. King at the Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, N.Y., Feb. 16.
New Jersey was well represented — by Little Steven Van Zandt, Southside Johnny and Robert Randolph — at “The Thrill Is Gone,” a B.B. King tribute concert at the Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, N.Y., Feb. 16.
You can watch videos below of Van Zandt singing and playing guitar on a high-spirited version of “Let the Good Times Roll”; Southside performing the more obscure “Beautician Blues”; and Randolph accompanying Ann Wilson of Heart on pedal steel guitar on “When Love Comes to Town.”
Other performers at the concert included Buddy Guy, Robert Cray, Warren Haynes, Derek Trucks, Susan Tedeschi, David Hidalgo, Shemekia Copeland, Jimmie Vaughan, Bobby Rush, Jamey Johnson, John Scofield, William Bell, Ivan Neville and Christone “Kingfish” Ingram, with Steve Jordan serving as musical director.
A second show had been scheduled for Feb. 17 but has been cancelled.
King, widely considered one of the most important performers in the history of the blues, died in 2015 at the age of 89.
