Gladwell, Allende, McCann to be featured at Montclair Literary Festival pre-fest events

Malcolm Gladwell will make an appearance in Montclair, Feb. 6.

The fourth annual Montclair Literary Festival, presented by Succeed2gether, takes place March 25-29. But there will be three pre-festival events, in January and February.

• Isabel Allende will discuss her latest novel, “A Long Petal of the Sea,” Jan. 22 at 7 p.m. at Montclair’s First Congregational Church.

• Malcolm Gladwell will talk about his 2019 book “Talking to Strangers: What We Should Know About the People We Don’t Know,” Feb. 6 at 7 p.m. at the First Congregational Church.

• Colum McCann will make an appearance in conversation with Garth Risk Hallberg, talking about his novel “Apeirogon” — to be published Feb. 25 — at Montclair’s Unitarian Universalist Congregation, March 12 at 7 p.m.

Authors lined up for the festival itself include Madeline Miller, Nicholas Kristof & Sheryl WuDunn, Erik Larson, Mo Rocca, Paul Krugman, Bill Moyers, Marcy Dermansky, Jeanine Cummins, Liz Moore, Maisy Card, Tochi Onyebuchi, Amir Ahmadi Arian, Teddy Wayne, Enrique Del Risco, Ernesto Quiñonez, Nancy Princenthal, Sam Sifton, Adam Platt, Jill Rooney-Carr, Adrienne Miller, Steve Luxenberg, Dionne Ford, Alexis Wichowski, Stephen Haff and Harvey Araton.
