Over the last 11 years, the Inside the Jazz Note series of fundraisers for the Montclair-based Jazz House Kids organization has attracted some stellar guests, including Wynton Marsalis, Pat Metheny, Chick Corea, Esperanza Spalding and Dianne Reeves. This year’s event, taking place May 17 at the Kasser Theater at Montclair State University, continues the tradition with pianist Bruce Hornsby and drummer Jack DeJohnette joining bassist (and Jazz House Kids artistic chair) Christian McBride.
The three released an album together, Camp Meeting, in 2007. You can listen to the title track below.
The May 17 event is billed as an evening of “Concert + Conversation,” and will also feature the Jazz House Big Band. Proceeds will help fund Jazz House Kids’ year-round education programs.
