Eddie Palmieri will co-headline this year’s Montclair Jazz Festival.

Latin-jazz pianist Eddie Palmieri and his Afro-Caribbean Jazz Sextet, and the dependably dynamic song interpreter Bettye LaVette will be among the performers at the 10th annual Montclair Jazz Festival, taking place in Nishuane Park, Aug. 10.

Palmieri had been scheduled to co-headline last year’s festival, but it was cancelled because of inclement weather.

Other performers at the free event will include bassist Christian McBride (the festival’s artistic director), organist Joey DeFrancesco, guitarist Mark Whitfield, saxophonist Mike Lee and student and faculty ensembles of Jazz House Kids, the Montclair-based educational organization that produces the festival.

The festival also has announced a series of events in the two weeks preceding it, including a performance by DJ Brother Mister (McBride’s DJ alter ego) at 18 Label Studios, July 26; a two-week symposium at Montclair State University, beginning July 29; and Jazz Across Montclair (at various venues, with artists TBA) on Aug. 4.
