The Hoboken Historical Museum is planning a celebration for Dec. 12 — the day that would have been the 100th birthday of the city’s favorite son, Frank Sinatra. There will also be an unveiling of a new bronze-star plaque honoring the centennial, in the walkway by the museum’s entrance, on that day.

But the museum has other Sinatra-related plans, too, including the opening of an exhibition, “Frank Sinatra: The Man, the Voice, & the Fans,” on Aug. 2.

The exhibition, which will be open until through July 3, 2016, will include interactive displays and videos, fan photographs and artifacts related to Sinatra’s years in Hoboken, and listening stations reflecting various stages of Sinatra’s 60-year career (radio sets, vinyl turntables, 8-track tape players, audio-cassette boomboxes and CD players). In conjunction with the exhibition, the museum will present Sinatra singers on the first Sunday of each month, a Sinatra film on the second Tuesday of each month, and various author talks and tours throughout the years.

Zack Alexander, 19, of Red Bank, will sing at the opening reception, Aug. 2. The reception will be from 2 to 5 p.m., and Alexander will perform at 4.

The museum, which is at 1301 Hudson St., is open Tuesdays through Thursdays from 2 to 7 p.m., Fridays from 1 to 5 p.m., and Saturdays and Sundays from noon to 5 p.m.
