ANDREW ELLIOTT (CHICK COREA PRODUCTIONS)

From left, Chick Corea, Brian Blade and Christian McBride make up Chick Corea’s Trilogy.

Chick Corea Trilogy, the ever-inventive keyboardist’s trio with bassist Christian McBride and drummer Brian Blade, will headline the spring edition of the biannual Exit 0 Jazz Festival, taking place in theaters, bars and restaurants throughout Cape May, April 12-14. Other performers will include the Preservation Hall Jazz Band, José James (paying tribute to Bill Withers), Lizz Wright, Red Baraat, Jon Cleary, Tameca Jones and Paul Jost.

Most of the sets will take place within walking distance of each other in downtown Cape May. Chick Corea Trilogy, though, will be at the Schmidtchen Theater at Lower Cape May Regional High School; free shuttle service will be offered.

As you can tell from the videos below, the festival’s definition of “jazz” is a broad one; bands that draw heavily from soul, R&B, rock, pop, Latin and other forms of music are featured.

There is also, as is customary for this festival, a strong New Orleans/Louisiana flavor to much of the music.

Here is the schedule, as well as videos for most of the acts.
