The 28th annual Crawfish Fest will take place at the Sussex County Fairgrounds in Augusta, June 2-4.

For those who like to plan early, The Crawfish Fest — New Jersey’s annual celebration of Louisiana music and food — will put tickets on sale Oct. 1 at 9 a.m. for its 28th edition, taking place June 2-4 at the Sussex County Fairgrounds in Augusta.

According to a post on the event’s Facebook page, performers will include Anders Osborne, The Rebirth Brass Band, Terrance Simien and The Zydeco Experience, Tab Benoit, Flow Tribe and The Nick Moss Band, with Henry Butler’s Jambalaya Band, Mason Ruffner and Little Freddie King performing for overnight campers, at night. Many more artists will be announced later.

Also, festival founder and producer Michael Arnone, a Baton Rouge native who still lives in Louisiana for most of the year (though he always spends about in month in New Jersey, preparing for the festival), has announced a relief initiative following the floods that devastated much of Southern Louisiana in mid-August. Here is more information, directly from him:

Recently Michael’s home area of Louisiana was hit by a record setting historic 1,000 year flood. Many of his neighbors had no insurance due to the fact this kind of storm has never been seen or ever been predicted.

Last week Michael and Alison Kaufman were bouncing ideas for a flood relief campaign. Local schools were consulted on their needs and they suggested a demand for clean, gently worn coats and sweaters sizes adult S-XL. Many people were evacuated by boats and left with only the shirts on their backs.

Logistically, it makes the most sense to have folks ship coats or jackets directly to the school by UPS, Fed Ex or other carrier. USPS does not drop off at the school. Please ship to:

Springfield High School attn. Brogan Fairchild
27322 HWY 42, Springfield, LA 70462

This will be very much appreciated, it is one less thing the parents have to worry about.

Thank you so much!
