Bruce Springsteen got cabaret treatment in 2018 show (WATCH VIDEOS)

“54 Sings Bruce Springsteen” was the title of a 2018 cabaret show at Feinstein’s/54 Below in New York.

I didn’t realize it at the time, but in March 2018 — when “Springsteen on Broadway” was in the middle of its run — the nearby nightclub Feinstein’s/54 Below presented a show, “54 Sings Bruce Springsteen,” featuring cabaret and Broadway artists performing an assortment of Springsteen songs. Fifteen videos — basically the whole show, I assume — are available on YouTube, and I have embedded them below.

Most of the performances are pretty straightforward, though there are some exceptions, including The Playbillies’ rootsy interpretation of “Dancing in the Dark,” Jessica Vosk and Julia Murney’s sultry duet on a medley of “I’m on Fire” and “Fire,” and Jon-Michael Reese’s haunting, dynamic take on “Born in the USA.”

Shoshana Feinstein directed the show, and the house band included Mike Rosengarten (music director, guitar), Emily Marshall (keyboards), Dan Berkery (drums), Matt Cusack (bass) and Dennis Michael Keefe (saxophone).

Here are all the videos available on YouTube:
