“Blinded by the Light,” a new film about a Pakistani-British Bruce Springsteen superfan, will include 12 Springsteen songs on its soundtrack, including two tracks that are being released for the first time.

One is “I’ll Stand by You,” a tender ballad that Springsteen offered for possible use in the “Harry Potter” film series (it was not used). The other is a solo acoustic version of “The Promised Land” at the Concert for Valor, honoring U.S. war veterans, at the National Mall in Washington, D.C. on Nov. 11, 2014.

The set will also include a live version of “The River,” by Springsteen and the E Street Band, at the No Nukes concert at Madison Square Garden in New York on Sept. 21, 1979. This was the debut performance of that song. Springsteen’s performance of “The River” was featured in the “No Nukes” movie, but was not included on the soundtrack album. It was, though, released last year, along with all of Springsteen’s other “No Nukes” music, as part of his monthly archival music series.

The soundtrack also uses the live version of “Thunder Road” that was included in Springsteen’s Live 1975–85 boxed set.

The “Blinded by the Light” soundtrack will be released on Aug. 9, and the film will be released on Aug. 14. Here is the track listing for the album (Springsteen songs are in bold) and, below that, a trailer for the movie.
