Bon Jovi, which recently selected Jersey bands Bobby Mahoney and the Seventh Son and The Revel to open for them at Madison Square Garden, have asked another Jersey group — the Shore-based country duo, Williams Honor — to do the same at their next Garden show, May 9. A New York-based troup, Tempt, will open the second night of the two-night stand, May 10.

Williams Honor member Gordon Brown wrote about the inspiration and support he has received from Bon Jovi, over the years, before the group was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame last month. NJArts.net reposted what he wrote, with his permission. You can read it here.

Brown also said the following in a press release about the upcoming Garden shows: “When you come from our area, you grow up dreaming about one day performing at Madison Square Garden. They are making sure we get the chance to do just that AND have a true Jersey Invasion of NYC and MSG.”

In the same press release, Harrison Marcello of Tempt said: “We’re a rock band and Bon Jovi is baked into our DNA. We’re fans of theirs in the truest sense. We respect Jon so much as an artist, songwriter and producer and also really admire his work ethic and his management skills as he has continued to lead the band from success to success on a career that few other artists have. We can’t thank him enough for paying it back and extending a helping hand down to us and the other bands that have had the opportunity to open for him.”
