Bruce Springsteen will appear as a “special guest” at a June 18 concert by Portugal. The Man and the Tangiers Blues Band at Asbury Lanes, which recently reopened under new management and after having undergone an extensive renovation.

He will presumably play only or primarily with the Tangiers Blues Band, whose harmonica player, Danny Clinch, is also a well known rock photographer who has done many shoots for Springsteen. I am not aware of any prior connection between Springsteen and Portugal. The Man.

There will be a lottery of 100 free pairs of tickets for Asbury Park residents, that can be entered until 8 a.m. June 7. But there will be no general on-sale. For information, visit asburylanes.com.

There will be a lottery for a pair tickets (plus a room at the Asbury Hotel) via asburylanes.com, and the same lottery at asburyparknow.com.

The event is “in support of” the Boys & Girls Clubs of Monmouth County. Though no tickets are being sold, a donation will be made.

Clinch has his own gallery, Transparent, located adjacent to the Asbury Hotel.

June 18 is a Monday, so Springsteen does not have a “Springsteen on Broadway” show that night.
