Mayor Thomas Calabrese of Cliffside Park has declared Oct. 5 Cousin Brucie Day, and a celebration will be held that day at the city’s School #6.

Bruce “Cousin Brucie” Morrow, the veteran DJ who now works for SiriusXM Satellite Radio, will attend the 7-10 p.m. celebration, at which, according to its Facebook Event page, he will “answer questions, share stories in a Town Hall Meeting Format. Surprise Unveiling! Music! Dancing! and More!”

There will be no admission charge.

The event is being hosted by the Palisades Amusement Park Historical Society. The famed amusement park, immortalized in Freddy “Boom Boom” Cannon’s 1962 hit single “Palisades Park,” featured live music in the ’60s, and every year, Cousin Brucie presents a Palisades Park Reunion concert at the State Fair Meadowlands.

Palisades Amusement Park, which was located in Cliffside Park and Fort Lee, opened in 1898 and closed in 1971.

When the first Palisades Park Reunion concert was announced, in 2013, Cousin Brucie said in a press release: “Palisades Park was more than a Cousin Brucie showcase for the great artists of the day; it was literally an emotional experience for the tens of thousands of my listeners who attended these unforgettable shows. Great talent appeared with me at Palisades, many of whom made their debut on stage at these shows. Palisades Park will always be part of our cultural experience.”

School #6 is located at 440 Oakdene Ave.
