Tony nominees Constantine Maroulis (“Rock of Ages,” “Spring Awakening”) and Mary Bridget Davies (“A Night With Janis Joplin”) will play Berger and Sheila, with Remember Jones as Claude, in “Hair in Concert” at the Axelrod Performing Arts Center in Deal, Aug. 15-16 and 18-19.

Remember Jones will also direct this production of the groundbreaking musical, which is celebrating the 50th anniversary of its Broadway debut this year. And his band will serve as the house band, as well as cast members, with 15 other cast members to be announced soon.

There also will be psychedelic projections done by the Pig Light Show, whose history dates back to the heyday of the Fillmore East in New York and the Capitol Theatre in Passaic.

“It will be a concert presentation, but we will tell the story, and we will have roles, and things like that,” Remember Jones told me last month. “I still want it to feel like a happening. I want it to be like a typical ‘Hair’ be-in. But it’s going to be a Remember Jones show, as well.”

Jones has directed “Hair” twice in the past. “I’m amazed that these songs and themes have maintained
their cultural relevance, even 50 years since the show’s debut on Broadway,” he said in a press release. “My band and I are psyched to put our spin on these iconic tunes.”

The performances will be Aug. 15-16 at 8 p.m., Aug. 18 at 10 p.m. and Aug. 19 at 3 p.m. Visit axelrodartscenter.com.
