Eddie Manion will preview ‘Nightlife’ album in Asbury Park

ED MANION

EDDIE MANION

Saxophonist Eddie Manion, who has spent most of his career backing other artists (including Bruce Springsteen, Southside Johnny, Graham Parker, Robert Cray and Diana Ross), is releasing a new solo album, Nightlife, in November, but will offer a preview of it at the Where Music Lives Performance & Exhibition Center in Asbury Park, Oct. 23-25.

On Oct. 23 and 24, he will also be performing at the Stone Pony with Joe Grushecky & the Houserockers, at shows celebrating the 20th release of Grushecky’s American Babylon album. The Where Music Lives events will take place Oct. 23 and 24 from noon to 3 p.m. and Oct. 25 from 7 to 10 p.m., and feature a meet-and-greet with Manion, with autographed, limited edition pre-sale copies of Nightlife available; a “first listen” to the entire album; a live performance of a few tracks; and a small photo exhibit of Manion’s personal photography used for the Nightlife CD cover and photo booklet. There will also be an exhibit of veteran Shore photographer John Cavanaugh’s shots of Manion in action with Springsteen, Southside and Steven Van Zandt from 1976 to 2015.

Tickets will go on sale Tuesday at noon.

Where Music Lives’ current photo exhibit, “Joe Grushecky & the Houserockers: The Asbury Connection,” runs through Aug. 30.
