Spring-Nuts, a Bruce Springsteen Facebook fan group, is unique among such groups in that hundreds of its more than 5,000 members travel from all over the world to gather, annually, in Asbury Park — to enjoy each other’s company, deepen their friendship with each other and, naturally, listen to Springsteen music. The third annual Spring-Nuts Seaside Serenade takes place May 3-5.
At Spring-Nuts Seaside Serenade, wrote Spring-Nuts leader Howie Chaz of Brooklyn, on Facebook, “There are no ‘sub groups,’ no ‘cliques,’ no ‘clubs.’ We are all one. You may walk in alone, but you will walk out with 450 new friends. Trust me on this one. We got your back.”
The main event is a Springsteen dance party at the Stone Pony, May 5 from noon to 6 p.m., preceded by a walking tour of Asbury Park, led by Stan Goldstein and Jean Mikle and featuring original E Street Band member Vini Lopez, March 5 at 10:30 a.m.
There will also be a concert by Springsteen cover band Tramps Like Us at House of Independents, March 4, but it is sold out.

And for those looking to get a taste of what the group is all about, check out this in-depth, four-hour documentary by Dennis P. Laverty, filmed at last year’s Seaside Serenade; it captures the enthusiasm and family-like feeling that has developed among group members, and the party atmosphere of the event.
