Jimmy Webb will be honored at a Carnegie Hall concert, May 3.
Songwriter Jimmy Webb, who lived in Montclair in the ’80s and ’90s, will be honored with a Carnegie Hall tribute concert, May 3.
The event, titled “A Celebration of the Music of Jimmy Webb: The Cake and the Rain,” will benefit the Alzheimer’s Association and Glen Campbell’s I’ll Be Me Alzheimer’s Fund. Campbell is a longtime friend of Webb’s and has sung the signature versions of many of his songs.
The lineup will include Art Garfunkel, Judy Collins, Marilyn McCoo and Billy Davis Jr. of the 5th Dimension, Toby Keith, Amy Grant, Johnny Rivers, Dwight Yoakam, Ashley Campbell (daughter of Glen Campbell) and others, as well as Webb himself, who has released 10 albums as a singer-songwriter.

Songs Webb has written include “MacArthur Park,” “By the Time I Get to Phoenix,” “Wichita Lineman,” “Up, Up and Away,” “Galveston,” “Didn’t We” and “All I Know.”

The show is part of a series of Carnegie Hall tributes that have honored, over the past 11 years, Bruce Springsteen, Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell, Prince, David Bowie and many others.
