How much is too much? Eleven (!) pre-sales for Guns N’ Roses at Prudential Center

by JAY LUSTIG

Guns N’ Roses will bring their Not in This Lifetime Tour to the Prudential Center in Newark, Oct. 12.

It might be some kind of a record: Guns N’ Roses have 11 presales scheduled for the Oct. 12 stop of their Not in This Lifetime Tour at the Prudential Center in Newark. Some have started already.

The on-sale time for the general public is July 28 at 10 a.m. But before that, there are also the following presales, according to the Ticketmaster web site:

Nightrain Fan Club Presale (noon July 21 to 10 p.m. July 27)

VIP Packages Presale (noon July 21 to 10 p.m. July 27)

Ticket + Nightrain Membership Presales (1 p.m. July 21 to 10 p.m. July 27)

Citi Cardmember Presale (10 a.m. July 24 to 10 p.m. July 27)

AT&T Priority Presale (10 a.m. July 26 to 10 p.m. July 27)

Past Ticket Purchaser Presale (10 a.m. July 27 to 10 p.m. July 27)

Ticketmaster Presale (noon July 27 to 10 p.m. July 27)

Live Nation Mobile App Presale (noon July 27 to 10 p.m. July 27)

Live Nation Presale (noon July 27 to 10 p.m. July 27)

Radio/Venue Presale (noon July 27 to 10 p.m. July 27)

Live Nation Facebook Presale (noon July 27 to 10 p.m. July 27)

Actually, I have no idea if this is a record. I’m aware that the number of pre-sales seem to have been increasing, for all kinds of shows, for many years.

But it struck me when I looked at this list: Is it really a good idea to create such a byzantine, hard-to-navigate system? How much time would it take for a fan to fully understand how to access each of these pre-sales, and the pros and cons of each one? Do people really need one more headache in their lives these days?

I know I must sound like a old fogey. And yes, I realize there are bigger problems in the world.

But this really makes me nostalgic for the days when all tickets would go on sale at a certain time, and if you wanted one, you’d just try to buy it, and that would be it.

We need your help!
