As previously announced, John Prine will headline the June 23 lineup of the June 19-23 Rockland-Bergen Music Festival. Some of the other acts also have been announced for that day’s lineup at German Masonic Park in Tappan, N.Y. (near the Bergen County border): Donna The Buffalo, Joe Purdy, Williams Honor and Joe D’Urso’s Acoustic Excursion. And tickets, for that day only, will go on sale Dec. 14 at 10 a.m. Visit RocklandMusicFestival.com.
The festival, now in its sixth year, will also include a show at German Masonic Park, June 22, as well as events at the ’76 House in Tappan and the Turning Point in Piermont, N.Y., June 20-22; a Rockland Music Awards show on June 19, at a location to be announced; and a wrap-up party at ’76 House, June 23. Tickets will go on sale separately for all these events, on a date or dates to be announced.
According to an email message to event supporters, “RBMF will once again host 15 area charities on site each day, highlight Rockland County local craft beer breweries and area restaurants. Plans are in the works to serve City Winery wines this year for the first time as well!”
Prine received three Grammy nominations today: Two of his compositions will compete for Best American Roots Song: “Knockin’ on Your Screen Door” and “Summer’s End” (both co-written with Pat McLaughlin), and his The Tree of Forgiveness is one of the nominees in the Best Americana Album category.
(Dec. 13 Update: A few more festival performers have been confirmed as well: Matt Jaffe, Slippery Chickens, Tim O’Donohue and TMU Band, and School of Rock Orangeburg.)
