Bruce Springsteen will release a recording of a 1978 Houston concert to benefit those affected by the recent natural disasters in Texas and Florida.

Bruce Springsteen is releasing a recording of his Dec. 8, 1978 concert at The Summit in Houston as a benefit for the MusiCares Hurricane Relief Fund, which will help those affected by the recent natural disasters in Texas and Florida.

The show was previously available on DVD and Blu-ray in the 2010 boxed set, The Promise: The Darkness on the Edge of Town Story. But it is available now via live.brucespringsteen.net as “MP3 and hi-res downloads including audiophile grade MQA, or as a 2 CD set,” according to a post on the web site. CDs will start shipping on Oct. 9.

The post also says that that Springsteen’s live recording service is “powered by nugs.net” and includes this quote from nugs.net CEO Brad Serling: “Fans had been asking for a stand-alone audio release of Houston ‘78 since the Darkness box set came out several years ago. Its release-ready availability gave us the opportunity to move quickly to support people in Texas and Florida.”
