Steven Van Zandt — who toured extensively with his Disciples of Soul band and released Soulfire, an album recorded with them, last year — was asked yesterday on Twitter (@StevieVanZandt) when fans can expect a new DOS album.

“Live album. Trying for May,” he responded.

This would be Van Zandt’s first live album apart from his work with the E Street Band.

He was also asked, the day before, if he would be doing any shows in the U.K. this year, and responded, “Working on it.”

Closer to home, Van Zandt will be hosting a show by Monkees members Mike Nesmith and Micky Dolenz at the Count Basie Theatre in Red Bank, June 25, as part of the Little Steven’s Underground Garage at the Basie series.

No one knows, of course, when and if the E Street Band will get back together, though “Springsteen on Broadway” is booked through June 30. As far as what lies beyond that, drummer Max Weinberg reportedly told the crowd at one of his Max Weinberg’s Jukebox shows at the Tarrytown Music Hall in Tarrytown, N.Y., last month, “Don’t worry, we ain’t done yet.”
