Strong NJ flavor to third annual Shadow of the City festival

The third annual Shadow of the City Festival will be held at the Stone Pony Summer Stage in Asbury Park, Sept. 10.

The third annual Shadow of the City festival at the Stone Pony Summer Stage will be the most Jerseycentric one yet, with Garden State-bred acts such as Brian Fallon (of The Gaslight Anthem), Titus Andronicus, Brick + Mortar and Nicole Atkins, as well as festival founder Jack Antonoff and his band Bleachers, on the bill.

Other acts will include Khalid and Tove Styrke, and there will be other attractions such as food trucks and carnival games. Doors will open at noon.

Antonoff — who was born and raised in Bergen County, and has also played in the bands fun. and Steel Train — said in a press release: “shadow of the city is the festival i dreamed about having when i was a kid in new jersey having to take the bus to NYC to see music. this is year 3 and we are getting another step closer to what we’ve always wanted to do with shadow of the city — be something separate from other festivals. 1 stage, 1 day, small capacity and actually affordable for people. half of the artists are new jersey artists which means a great deal to me to celebrate the culture of my home state. there is no place more special to me than the jersey shore.”

Tickets, priced at $36, go on sale June 16 at 10 a.m.; visit shadowofthe.city. $130 VIP tickets include a private bar, bathroom and viewing area, an 11 a.m. brunch inside the Pony, and a meet-and-greet session with Antonoff.

A dollar from every ticket sold will go to The Ally Coalition, an organization supporting LGBTQ equality.
