Suzzy Roche and Lucy Wainwright Roche will present a virtual concert, Nov. 18.
The dynamic mother-and-daughter team of singer-songwriters Suzzy Roche and Lucy Wainright Roche will appear in their first online show tonight (Nov. 18) at 7:30 p.m. It is titled “From Our Pod to Yours! — Songs From Home, Suzzy and Lucy Edition.”
“Lucy and I are excited to celebrate our new CD with our first ever online concert tonight as a heartfelt thank you to music lovers everywhere,” said Suzzy.
One of the kinder folk artists I’ve ever interviewed, Suzzy Roche has been pouring her heart out to listeners for decades in her thoughtful, provocative songs as part of the treasured folk group The Roches. Her penchant for gorgeous harmonies continues with her talented daughter Lucy.
The free show is available on Facebook, Instagram, or YouTube. The artists welcome tips via Venmo (venmo@lucywainrightroche) or PayPal (at lucywainrightroche@gmail.com).
“If you can’t make it at that time, don’t worry, we’ll leave it up for a while so you can watch it at your leisure,” said Suzzy on her Facebook page.

The two have been busy creating during the pandemic, releasing a fantastic, soulful new CD, I Can Still Hear You.
“We actually started to record a new album in Nashville right before this (the pandemic) happened, and we’ve continued to work on it in our separate apartments,” said Roche in a previous interview. “We sing and play our parts and send them to each other, and then on down to Nashville to our producer there. It’s been a lifeline to have something work on, and guess what? It sounds great. So, it’s a real ‘pandemic recording.”

Roche also released her latest book, “The Town Crazy” (Gibson House Press, September 2020, $16.99), which I am reading and deeply engrossed in. She previously has penned the novel “Wayward Saints” and the children’s book “Want to Be in a Band?”
While both are remaining close to home in New York right now, they will rejoice in the return of live shows when the pandemic clears. Their vital energy and interest in connecting is the antidote to social isolation. While we still will have to wait for live shows, this online concert will give us a much needed dose of musical relief.
