Vini Lopez will be the subject of a roast taking place in Asbury Park May 28.

Over the course of his career, original E Street Band drummer Vini Lopez has probably taken part in just about every kind of show you can imagine. Except this one: On May 28, he will be roasted — yes, roasted — at the Where Music Lives Exhibit and Performance Center at 708 Cookman Ave. in Asbury Park. Proceeds will go to the Light of Day Foundation.

Comedian Mike Marino will be the roastmaster, and roasters will include musicians Bobby Bandiera, Lance Larson, Jon Sebastian Brice, P.K. Lavengood and Paul Whistler; football player Phil Villapiano; and radio hosts Big Joe Henry and Tom Cunningham.

According to a press release, more roasters are expected to be added to the roster.

Usually at roasts, the roastee gets to fire back after everyone else is done, so Lopez is likely to speak as well.

Lopez currently performs with the band Dawg Whistle, as do Whistler and Brice. Where Music Lives’ exhibit, “The Live and Times of Vini Lopez,” is on display through June 14.
