Stephen Colbert’s old boss, Jon Stewart, made a surprise visit to “The Late Show With Stephen Colbert” on CBS television last night for a long (more than 11 minutes) segment in which they urged voters to do their civic duty and vote — and mocked Donald Trump mercilessly.

Javier Muñoz, who is currently playing the title role in the Broadway megahit “Hamilton,” dropped by to add a rap, capped by the line, “History has its eyes on you.”

You can watch the segment below.

Both Colbert and Stewart, who first worked together on Stewart’s “The Daily Show” on Comedy Central, are New Jerseyans. Stewart grew up in Lawrenceville and currently lives in Red Bank, and Colbert lives in Montclair.

Colbert will star in an hour-long live Showtime special, “Stephen Colbert’s Live Election Night Democracy’s Series Finale: Who’s Going to Clean Up This Sh*t?,” tonight at 11 p.m. (with rebroadcasts at midnight, and later in the week as well). He will also discuss the election with John Oliver at NJPAC in Newark on Nov. 19, in a benefit for the montclairfilm.org that is titled, “Wow, That Was Weird: A Post-Election Evening with Stephen Colbert and John Oliver.”
