Stephen Colbert announces: ‘We got The Mooch!’

Stephen Colbert will interview Anthony Scaramucci on “Late Show,” Monday.

I can’t believe I’m really writing this. Stephen Colbert, who has been gleefully vicious in his satirical “Late Show” monologues about the former, briefly tenured White House communications director Anthony Scaramucci, will interview Scaramucci himself on the CBS show, Monday (Aug. 14).

Colbert, who lives in Montclair, made the announcement via Twitter Wednesday afternoon, adding “This is just a heads up for our censors to get ready!” And he confirmed it on Wednesday night’s “Late Show.”

After talking, on “Late Show,” about hyped “exclusive” interviews that aren’t really exclusive, Colbert said: “I have an announcement right now of an actual exclusive interview that we’re gonna have Monday. Everybody wants this fella, right? Everybody wants him, nobody got him. But us.

“On Monday, I will be sitting down, right here, talking, for the first time since he left the White House … Anthony Scaramucci will be sitting right there. The Mooch … right there. I can’t believe it: We got The Mooch! We set out a Mooch trap … I think it’s going to be fun. We’re gonna be talking, I’m gonna ask like what it’s like inside there, ‘How loyal do you feel the President is now?’ We’ll do some front-stabbin’, it’ll be a lot of fun.

“Mooch, I’ll see ya Monday. It’s going to be a lot of fun.”

Here is the clip of Colbert making the announcement.
