A stage version of the Whitney Houston-Kevin Costner movie, “The Bodyguard,” and the uproarious Mel Brooks musical, “The Producers,” will be among the five offerings of the 2016-17 season of the Paper Mill Playhouse in Millburn.

“The Producers,” which won 12 Tonys after it opened on Broadway in 2001, will be produced Sept. 28-Oct. 23, followed by “The Bodyguard,” which will star Deborah Cox (whose hits as a recording artist include “Nobody’s Supposed to Be Here” and “We Can’t Be Friend”), Nov. 25-Jan. 1.

“A Comedy of Tenors” — Ken Ludwig’s sequel to his popular 1986 comedy, “Lend Me a Tenor” — will be at the Paper Mill, following a successful run last year at the McCarter Theatre Center in Princeton, Feb. 1-26. “Million Dollar Quartet” (a jukebox musical featuring actors performing as Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, Johnny Cash and Carl Perkins) will run from March 29 to April 23, and “Mary Poppins” from May 24 to June 25.

This will be the U.S. premiere of “The Bodyguard,” and the Paper Mill production will launch a national tour. The “Bodyguard” movie was a hit at the box office, but is perhaps better known for its soundtrack, which included the Whitney Houston hits “I Will Always Love You,” “I Have Nothing” and “I’m Every Woman,” among other songs.

July 19 update: Tickets will go on sale Aug. 8. For information, visit papermill.org.
