Wendie Malick and Dan Lauria to co-star in ‘Love Letters’ at NJ Rep

Dan Lauria and Wendie Malick will co-star in “Love Letters” at NJ Rep.

Wendie Malick and Dan Lauria will co-star in a production of A.R. Gurney’s “Love Letters” at New Jersey Repertory Company, April 24-24. Both actors have performed at the Long Branch theater in the past. Malick is also known for her work on television’s “Don’t Shoot Me” and “Hot in Cleveland”; Lauria has starred in Broadway’s “Lombardi” and television’s “The Wonder Years” and “Pitch.”

The shows will benefit the theater, which recently bought the building that formerly housed Long Branch’s West End Elementary School and is transforming it into an arts center (plans call for NJ Rep’s current building to remain open as well). NJ Rep will begin presenting classes in its new property in April.

In “Love Letters,” which was presented on Broadway in 1989-90 and 2014, a relationship is exploredvialetters (written by the two characters to each other) that are read by the two actors.

The shows take place April 22 at 8 p.m., April 23 at 4 p.m. and April 24 at 7 p.m. Tickets are $100, with a dessert and wine reception after each performance. The first 10 donors making a donation of $500 or more will also receive admission to a dinner with Malick and Lauria, April 23 at 7 p.m.

NJ Rep has also announced that it will present an arts festival in the new building, Oct. 1-8, that will encompass theater, visual arts, poetry and music.
