BUCKY PIZZARELLI

A guitar signed by the late Bucky Pizzarelli is being auctioned off to benefit the Jazz Foundation of America’s COVID-19 Musician’s Emergency Fund.

The renowned, Paterson-born guitarist, a member of the New Jersey Hall of Fame and a longtime supporter of the Jazz Foundation of America, died in April at the age of 94. Pizzarelli had had serious health problems in recent years and was diagnosed with COVID-19 a few days before he died.

The guitar, a D’Angelico Excel EXL-1, was signed by Pizzarelli in 2016 at the D’Angelico Showroom in New York and was donated for the auction by D’Angelico Guitars, according to the CharityBuzz online auction site.

The auction runs through 4 p.m. May 26 and the current high bid is $3,750.
