“Closed for Breakfast,” a 2012 photograph by Yevette Hendler of Bloomsbury.

A diner, presumably abandoned, sits under a gray sky and a nearly bare tree in “Closed for Breakfast,” a 2012 photograph by Yevette Hendler. There is grass growing in the parking lot in front of it; it looks like if you slammed the front door too hard, the whole thing would collapse.

“Closed for Breakfast” is part of “A Journey to Disregard,” a solo exhibition featuring photographs by Bloomsbury resident Hendler that will be at the Hunterdon Art Museum in Clinton through Jan. 4. According to a press release, Hendler “finds beauty in decay. Through her lens, Hendler shows viewers the spaces and places that have been forgotten and neglected, and captures their hidden charms.”

Work by Hendler in the museum’s 2013 Members Exhibition led to this solo show.

The museum is at 7 Lower Center St. For information, visit hunterdonartmuseum.org.

Art of the Day is a series of posts, each focusing on one work of art on display at a museum, gallery or other exhibition space in New Jersey. These will appear daily, though not on weekends and holidays. To suggest works of art to feature, please email njartsdaily@gmail.com.
