As most readers of NJArts.net know, we have a series devoted to New Jersey songs — 350 Jersey Songs — and since September 2014, we have had a post a day about a song that is about some aspect of New Jersey, or is by a Jersey artist, or was at least recorded in the state. The number 350 was chosen to honor the state’s anniversary, which was last year.
The last of the 350 posts will be on Sept. 8. I know what the song will be. But no one else — not my wife, not my mother — knows.
Do you think you can guess it?
I’ll give you a few hints. It is by a well known Jersey artist or band. It is also a well known song, not something obscure. It is not, of course, a song that has already been selected for the project. And it reflects, in some way, the joy I feel at bringing this project to a close.
If more than one entrant guesses correctly, I will select the winner randomly. If no one guesses correctly, I will select the winner randomly from all the entrants.
The prize? Two tickets to see Darlene Love and Steven Van Zandt in Love’s “CD Release Event” for her upcoming Introducing Darlene Love album, Sept. 12 at the Paramount Theatre in Asbury Park.
Send an email with your guess (and please write “350” in the subject line) to firstname.lastname@example.org by midnight Sept. 7 for a chance to win.
If you want to see the songs that have already been chosen (and therefore eliminate more than 300 contenders), go here for the list in alphabetical order (by artist), or here to see the list in the order that the songs were chosen.
