A roundup of arts events taking place around the state, through Nov. 7:
POP/ROCK
• Warren Haynes, Jamey Johnson, Lukas Nelson, John Medeski and Don Was will be among the musicians performing the music of The Band’s 1976 “Last Waltz” concert at the Count Basie Center for the Arts in Red Bank, Nov. 6 at 8 p.m. The concert will also feature Terence Higgins, Dave Malone of The Radiators, Cyril Neville of The Neville Brothers, Bob Margolin (who performed with Muddy Waters at the original “Last Waltz”), Mark Mullins and The Levee Horns. The original “Last Waltz” concert, held at the Winterland Ballroom in San Francisco, was The Band’s farewell concert, and featured guests such as Bob Dylan, Van Morrison, Eric Clapton, Joni Mitchell and Neil Young. It was documented in a triple album (with some studio recordings added) and a Martin Scorsese-directed film that is often included in lists of the best concert movies ever.
• Former Barenaked Ladies member Steven Page brings his own Steven Page Trio to the At the Tabernacle series at the Mt. Tabor Tabernacle in Parsippany, Nov. 2 at 7:30 p.m. Dean Friedman, best known for his 1977 hit “Ariel,” will open the show. Page, who co-fronted Barenaked Ladies with Ed Robertson, has released five albums on his own since leaving the group in 2009. He, incidentally, has sung Friedman’s “McDonald’s Girl” at shows, back in his Barenaked Ladies days (see video below).
• The South Orange Performing Arts Center‘s annual gala takes place Nov. 2 at 5:45 p.m., with entertainment by Marc Cohn — best known for his 1991 hit, “Walking in Memphis” — a silent auction and more.
• Guitarist Laurence Juber — a member of Paul McCartney’s Wings (from 1978 to 1981) who has also worked with Ringo Starr, Al Stewart, Carly Simon and many others, will perform at Congregation Shomrei Emunah in Montclair, Nov. 3 at 4 p.m.
JAZZ
• The ninth annual Bickford Benefit Concert will take place at the Bickford Theatre in Morris Township, Nov. 4 at 7:30 p.m., with jazz by Dan Levinson on clarinet and tenor sax; Mark Shane on piano; Molly Ryan on guitar and vocals; Randy Reinhart on cornet; Herb Gardner on trombone; Tal Ronen on bass; and Matt Hoffmann on drums. Proceeds will support concerts, plays and dance productions in the 2020 Bickford Theatre season.

CLASSICAL
• Pianist Juho Pohjonen will perform Grieg’s Piano Concerto with the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra at BergenPAC in Englewood, Oct. 31 at 7:30 p.m.; the Richardson Auditorium at Princeton University, Nov. 1 at 8 p.m.; the Count Basie Center for the Arts in Red Bank, Nov. 2 at 8 p.m.; and Prudential Hall at NJPAC in Newark, Nov. 3 at 3 p.m. Markus Stenz will conduct, and the program will also include Rebel’s “Chaos” from Les élémens, and Brahms ‘ Symphony No. 2.
• The Montclair Orchestra will present a children’s concert, featuring Saint-Saëns’ Carnival of the Animals and other orchestral favorites, Nov. 3 at 3 p.m. at the Central Presbyterian Church in Montclair. Allison Brewster Franzetti will be featured on piano, and Renee Baskerville will narrate, and there will also be an instrument “petting zoo” where children can experience orchestral instruments up close.
• “Slavic Masters” is the theme of the Adelphi Orchestra‘s 7:30 p.m. Nov. 1 concert at River Dell Middle School, River Edge. Richard Owen will conduct, and Hikaru Yonezaki will be featured on violin. The program will include Borodin’s In the Steppes of Central Asia; Prokofiev’s Concerto for Violin, No. 2 in G minor, Op. 63; and Dvorak’s Symphony No. 7 in D minor, Op. 70/B 141.
Adam Brent’s sculpture, “Intake,” will be part of the “New World Water” exhibition.
VISUAL ARTS
• “New World Water,” a group exhibition that will be shown at the Walsh Gallery (at the Walsh Library) at Seton Hall University in South Orange, Nov. 4 through Dec. 13, focuses on themes such as climate change, water contamination, plastic pollution and hygiene. Artists will include Keren Anavy, Dotty Attie, Aileen Bassis, Adam Brent, Nancy Cohen, Nancy Crasco, Sally Gall, Tai Hwa Goh, Ellie Irons, Anne Percoco, Nyugen Smith, Allan Wexler, Woolpunk.
An opening reception will take place Nov. 7 from 5 to 9 p.m.
• Ed Berger, who died in 2017, had been the associate director of the Institute of Jazz Studies at Rutgers of University as well as an author, a record producer and a co-host of WBGO-FM’s “Jazz From the Archives” series. He was also a photographer whose work is now preserved in the Ed Berger Photographic Collection at the Oberlin College Conservatory Library in Oberlin, Ohio, and 30 of his photos will be displayed in an exhibition, “Ed Berger, Jazz Photographer,” that will be on view at the Jewish Museum in New Jersey in Newark from Nov. 3 to Jan. 12
The opening reception, Nov. 3 from 1 to 5 p.m., will feature music by students in NJPAC’s Wells Fargo Jazz for Teens program, with saxophonist Mark Gross.
