BOB DYLAN

On May 25, Pat Guadagno and his Tired Horses band will present their annual Bob Dylan tribute concert, BobFest, at the Count Basie Theatre in Red Bank. At some past BobFest shows, they have played one or two Dylan albums in their entirety. But this time, they are taking a different approach, focusing on Dylan’s songs of war and peace.

War and peace. Those are two pretty broad subjects. Yet some Dylan songs, of both the famous and the obscure variety, seem like strong candidates.

I haven’t talked to Guadagno about his set list, but I’ve made some guesses at songs he might perform. Some of the categorization was difficult. Is “Blowin’ in the Wind,” for instance, a song of war or peace? (I went with war). And does “peace” just mean absence of war, or can it mean romantic peace or spiritual peace as well? (I went with a very broad definition).

But anyway, below are 20 videos for the songs I came up with, starting with 10 songs of war, then 10 of peace.

Any major ones I missed? Please let me know in the comments section, below.
