Chris Frantz, the drummer and co-founder of Talking Heads and Tom Tom Club, will sign copies of his memoir, “Remain in Love: Talking Heads, Tom Tom Club, Tina,” and read from it, May 14 at 7 p.m. at Little City Books in Hoboken.

Frantz will be joined in conversation by his friend James Mastro, owner of the Guitar Bar stores in Hoboken and Jersey City and a member of The Bongos, Ian Hunter’s Rant Band, the Karyn Kuhl Band and others.

“Chris Frantz’s drumming style matches his writing and speaking voice — elegant, deep, and as solid as it gets,” said Mastro. “I will employ my David Frost/Spanish Inquisition interview techniques for it is guaranteed to be a fun, enlightening evening with a true legend (him, not me).”

Frantz formed Tom Tom Club with Talking Heads bassist Tina Weymouth, whom he has known, along with Talking Heads frontman David Byrne, since their college days at the Rhode Island School of Design. Frantz and Weymouth have been married since 1977 and the book chronicles their musical and personal journey.

A Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee as a member of Talking Heads, Frantz hosts the radio show “Chris Frantz the Talking Head” on WPKN (89.5 FM, Bridgeport, Conn.).

“As much as I have loved the Talking Heads and Tom Tom Club over the years, what I really love is the gorgeous romantic spirit of this memoir, bringing happiness and light to our gloomy old world,” said Little City Books co-owner Kate Jacobs.

“Remain in Love” will be released on May 12. Frantz will also sign copies of the book at Bookends bookstore in Ridgewood, May 15 at 7 p.m.
