Bruce Springsteen’s next single will be “Nightshift.”
Bruce Springsteen, who will release an album of soul covers titled Only the Strong Survive on Nov. 11, has already put out one single, “Do I Love You (Indeed I Do),” with the second, “Nightshift,” coming out at midnight Oct. 14.

Well, he hasn’t quite come out and said that. But he did put out a message on social media, today, saying “Gonna be some sweet sounds comin’ down, on the nightshift… Friday at midnight” and featuring a snippet of the song that you can hear below.
Written by Commodores member Walter Orange along with Dennis Lambert and Franne Golde, “Nightshift” was a Top 10 hit for The Commodores in 1985.
The song is, in part, a tribute to Marvin Gaye and Jackie Wilson, who both died in 1984. Here are the relevant lyrics:
