According to a press release:
… fans can expect to hear Mellencamp’s best known songs including “Pink Houses,” “Jack and Diane,” “Small Town,” “Hurts So Good,” “Authority Song,” “Key West Intermezzo (I Saw You First),” as well as beloved tracks that he hasn’t performed live in ten plus years, including “R.O.C.K. in the U.S.A.,” “I Need a Lover,” “Wild Nights,” “Ain’t Even Done With the Night” among other long unplayed gems.
The tour is currently scheduled to last from July 10 to Aug. 12, with other stops including the Northwell at Jones Beach Theater in Wantagh, New York, July 26.
In the tour trailer that you can watch below, Mellencamp discusses touring with Sean Penn in an old-fashioned diner. Mellencamp says he has the opportunity to do the kind of tour where, “you know, where you play for a lot of people. And you play all your old hit songs. And I quit doing that 17 years ago.”
“Well, I mean, God forbid you become generous with your hits, and all the soundtrack of people’s lives,” Penn respond. “I can’t imagine you’d want to do that. Maybe actually let yourself enjoy it.
“Just ’cause they’re hits don’t mean they’re not great songs.”
At the end of the clip, Mellencamp ends up agreeing with Penn. “We’re doing it,” he says.
