“Land of Hope and Dreams,” an online series billed as “A Celebration of Dave Marsh’s Work and Vision,” will feature, May 8 at 8:30 p.m., a Zoom webinar featuring Bruce Springsteen; musician and activist Nona Hendryx, who is best known as a member of LaBelle: and Lauren Onkey, senior director of NPR Music. “Recommended reading” for the talk is Marsh’s 1985 book, “Sun City: Artists United Against Apartheid”; both Springsteen and Hendryx were featured on “Sun City,” the 1985 charity single written and produced by Steven Van Zandt.

Marsh is a veteran rock journalist who written extensively about Springsteen since the ’70s. According to the event’s web site, the goal of the series is “to re-create online the kind of warm, smart, and iconoclastic community that Dave Marsh has nurtured for many years. The discussions will shine a spotlight on the insights and provocations Marsh has given us for the past 50 years, highlighting their continued vitality in today’s cultural and political landscape.”

The webinars are free, though preregistration is required. According to the website, “We have a limited number of registrations available; if interest exceeds capacity, we may offer a simulcast via YouTube.”

Other “Spotlight Conversations” in the series will feature Jon Landau and Caryn Rose, April 30; Van Zandt, Jackson Browne and Danny Alexander, May 6; and Marsh and Daniel Wolff, May 14.

There will also be a keynote panel on the subject of “Listening Past the Myths,” May 7, with Greil Marcus, Robert Christgau, Ann Powers and Greg Tate, and Onkey serving as moderator.

The series also will include a number of other talks, on subjects such as “Who Needs the Music Industry?,” “Creem and the Origins of Rock Writing,” “Music and Activism: Race and Class” and “Music and Education: Where the Spirit of Learning and Teaching Should Meet.”

Donations are suggested on the site for The Kristen Ann Carr Fund, which honors the memory of Marsh’s late daughter by raising funds for sarcoma research.
