Garth Hudson of The Band will perform at The Vault in Berlin, Oct. 13.

Garth Hudson, one of two surviving original members of The Band, will participate in a concert paying tribute to The Band’s landmark farewell concert The Last Waltz, Oct. 13 at The Vault in Berlin (Camden County).

The 81-year-old keyboardist and saxophonist and his wife, singer Maud Hudson, will be the featured artists in a show by Graham Alexander and Co., billed as “Celebrating The Last Waltz — An Evening of Bob Dylan and The Band.” Tickets are available here.

The Last Waltz took place on Nov. 26, 1976 at the Winterland Ballroom in San Francisco and featured The Band on their own and with guests such as Dylan, Van Morrison, Eric Clapton, Neil Young, Joni Mitchell, Muddy Waters and Neil Diamond. A Martin Scorsese-directed movie and triple live album came out in 1978, documenting the event for future generations.

“The Last Waltz” is a perennial entry on lists of the best concert albums and best concert movies.

The other member of The Band’s classic five-piece lineup who is still alive is guitarist-songwriter Robbie Robertson, 75. Richard Manuel, Rick Danko and Levon Helm died in 1986, 1999 and 2012, respectively.
