Springsteen Archives’ Soundstage video series previews Delevantes album (featuring Garry Tallent)

The Soundstage Series, an online project of the Bruce Springsteen Archives and Center for American Music at Monmouth University in West Long Branch, has devoted segments to new music from E Street Band members Nils Lofgren and David Sancious. And Sept. 24 at 10 a.m., it will post a new video previewing The Delevantes’ new, as-yet-untitled album on the Archives’ website and Facebook page. The Delevantes are two brothers, singer-songwriter-guitarists Bob and Mike Delevante. They grew up in Rutherford, became part of the Hoboken music scene in the ’80s, and relocated to Nashville in the ’90s. They have often worked, in the past, with E Street Band member Garry Tallent, and Tallent is on their new album. (Last year, they backed Tallent when he opened for Southside Johnny & the Asbury Jukes at the Stone Pony Summer Stage in Asbury Park, and Bruce Springsteen joined them for one number; see photo above.)

“Working with the Delevantes is always fun,” said Tallent in a press release. “Their taste in music is very similar to mine, so we always seem to hit it off, whether we’re playing live – which, unfortunately isn’t a lot these days — or in the studio.”

“Even back when the brothers came of musical age in Hoboken, their interest in American roots music was deep and strong,” said Bob Santelli, who hosts the Soundstage series. “It was only natural that they’d wind up in Nashville and that their music contain elements of country, folk, roots rock, and Jersey soul.”
