Dave Mason’s Friday night concert at the Mayo Performing Arts Center in Morristown was cut short, after just a few songs, after the 69-year-old Rock and Roll Hall of Famer fainted onstage. Mason, who has been suffering from the flu lately, was taken to the Morristown Medical Center, according to a post on MorristownGreen.com, but is “in good spirits” and recovering, according to a post on his own Facebook page (see below).

(3/14 Update: The concert has rescheduled for July 21; according to a message to ticket holders to the original concert, posted at mayoarts.org, “Box office will contact you about the new date, new ticketing, and what to do if you cannot make the new date. Tickets will go back on sale shortly.”)

Mason has no other Jersey dates on his current tour, though he will be back during the summer as part of a package tour with The Doobie Brothers and Journey that stops at the PNC Bank Arts Center in Holmdel on June 25, and the BB&T Pavilion in Camden on July 15.

Saturday, around 10 a.m., the following message was posted on Mason’s Facebook page, along with the photo above.

Dave is in good spirits and still in recovery from the flu. He tried to go back to performing too early and fainted on stage at the Mayo Performing Arts Center. Thank you to the nurses and doctors in the audience and to all the fans in the audience who wished him well. The medical professionals at the hospital took great care of him and released him last night since all the tests were clear. He was extremely dehydrated and weak from the flu. He will be resting through the weekend and we will keep you posted. We really appreciate all the fan love and notes you’ve sent and are reading them to Dave.
