Bruce Springsteen has released the third single from his upcoming Tracks II: The Lost Albums boxed set: “Faithless,” which is described in a press release as the title track of “a long-lost film soundtrack to a movie that was never made” as well as a “meditation on purpose, belief and acceptance.”
The unmade film is described as a “spiritual Western.”
Springsteen recorded much of the album in 2005 and 2006. “You could recognize details (from the movie script) and maybe a character or two,” he said in the press release. “But for the most part, I just wrote atmospheric music that I thought would fit.”
The album was recorded primarily solo, though it does include musical contributions from producer Ron Aniello; Patti Scialfa; touring E Street Band members Soozie Tyrell, Lisa Lowell, Curtis King Jr., Michelle Moore and Ada Dyer; and Springsteen’s sons Evan and Sam.

The boxed set’s first single, “Rain in the River,” was released on April 3. Its second, “Blind Spot,” came out on April 17.

Springsteen’s Tracks, a four-CD boxed set released in 1998, includes rarities and previously unreleased material recorded between 1972 and 1998.
Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band are currently on a break from touring but will return to the road May 14, at Co-op Live in Manchester, England.
