Stephen Colbert and Jon Stewart on “The Late Show With Stephen Colbert,” Nov. 8.

In what must be a late night television first, Stephen Colbert is auctioning off an opportunity to not only attend a taping of “The Late Show With Stephen Colbert,” but also experience it from under his desk.

Colbert’s former boss Jon Stewart — like Colbert, a Jersey guy — popped up from under the desk to help Colbert make the announcement on the Nov. 8 “Late Show.” You can watch the segment, below.

Donations to the NEXT for Autism organization — click here for more information — make you eligible to compete for the prize. The drawing is being presented in conjunction with the Night of Too Many Stars comedy concert, an autism benefit that will take place at the Theater at Madison Square Garden in New York, Nov. 18 at 7:30 p.m., and be broadcast live on HBO beginning at 8 p.m. that night. Stewart will host the Night of Too Many Stars, and Colbert, Chris Rock, Adam Sandler, John Oliver, Ben Stiller and Howie Mandel will be among the guests.

Stewart has said he will hang out under the desk, with the contest winner, for one segment of “The Late Show.” The winner will also get to ask that night’s guest a question and deliver one punchline, and will receive hotel accommodations in New York.

A friend or relative of the winner can also attend — but will have to sit in a regular seat in the audience.
