A big week for NJ postponements and cancellations

Southside Johnny & the Asbury Jukes\’ July 3 concert at the Stone Pony Summer Stage has been postponed to the summer of 2021.

It’s been a big week for postponements and cancellations in the New Jersey arts world. There have been too many, in fact, for me to do a separate post on each one, so here is a roundup of major announcements made this week or in the recent past.

The Stone Pony Summer Stage in Asbury Park has moved Southside Johnny & the Asbury Jukes’ annual Fourth of July Week show, scheduled for July 3, to July 3 of 2021.

The newly re-named New Jersey Lottery Festival of Ballooning, originally scheduled for July 24-26 at the Solberg Airport in Readington, has moved to Oct. 16-18. As usual, the festival will feature concerts (acts TBA), fireworks, carnival rides and more, in addition to the balloon flights. Tickets already purchased will be honored; an email to ticket purchasers on May 26 will detail deferral, exchange and refund options.

The 10th annual Morristown Jazz and Blues Festival has been postponed from Aug. 15 of this year to Aug. 21 of next year. Artists have not been announced yet.

The Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey‘s annual summer outdoor stage production, of “Much Ado About Nothing,” has been postponed to 2021, and the first two indoor plays in the theater’s season at Drew University in Madison, “Enchanted April” and “The Metromaniacs,” have been moved to early next year. Specific dates for everything have not been announced yet.

At MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, concerts by Guns N’ Roses (July 18) and Kenny Chesney (Aug. 22) have been postponed. The new dates are not yet available.

At Prudential Center in Newark:

The Weeknd moves from July 7 to July 6, 2021.

Janet Jackson is postponed with no new date announced.

At PNC Bank Arts Center in Holmdel:

Thomas Rhett moves from July 11 to June 12, 2021.

Steely Dan and Steve Winwood move from July 10 to July 3, 2021.

Chris Stapleton’s All-American Road Show moves from July 25 to July 23, 2021.

The following shows are canceled: Breaking Benjamin (July 21), AJR (July 30), Nickelback (July 31), Tim McGraw (Aug. 1), Incubus/311 (Aug. 12), Sam Hunt (Aug. 14), Sammy Hagar (Aug. 21), Foreigner (Aug. 22), The Black Keys (Aug. 23), Rascal Flatts (Sept. 19) and Lady Antebellum (Sept. 26).

The following shows are postponed with no new dates announced yet: Alanis Morissette/Garbage/Liz Phair, Megadeth/Lamb of God, Kidz Bop, Chicago/Rick Springfield, Goo Goo Dolls, Disturbed/Staind, Santana/Earth, Wind & Fire, Backstreet Boys, Matchbox Twenty and Black Crowes.

At the BB&T Pavilion in Camden:

Chris Stapleton’s All-American Road Show moves from July 31 to July 10, 2021.

Thomas Rhett moves from Aug. 28 to Aug. 27, 2021.

The following shows are cancelled: Brad Paisley (June 14), Sam Hunt (July 17), Nickelback (July 19), Sammy Hagar (July 22), Breaking Benjamin (July 23), AJR (July 28), Black Keys (Aug. 22), Incubus/311 (Aug. 23) and Foreigner (Aug. 25).

The following shows are postponed with no new dates announced: Alanis Morissette/Garbage/Liz Phair, Maroon 5, Megadeth/Lamb of God, Chicago/Rick Springfield, Santana/Earth, Wind & Fire, Backstreet Boys, Matchbox Twenty, Black Crowes.

At Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City:

Chris Stapleton’s All-American Road Show moves from Oct. 9 to Oct. 1, 2021.

Kidz Bop is postponed with no new date announced.
