
George Clooney and Adam Sandler co-star in “Jay Kelly,” which will screen at The Montclair Film Festival.
“Jay Kelly” (co-starring George Clooney and Adam Sandler), “Rental Family” (starring Brendan Fraser) and “Christy” (starring Sydney Sweeney) will be among the films to be shown at this year’s 14th annual Montclair Film Festival, which will take place from Oct. 17 to Oct. 26.
The full schedule will be announced on Sept. 26, with tickets going on sale Sept. 29 at 10 a.m. for Montclair Film members, and Oct. 3 at 10 a.m. for the general public. Visit montclairfilm.org.
The festival will open, Oct. 17 at 7 p.m. at The Wellmont Theater, with “Jay Kelly,” directed by Baumbach. Clooney plays the title character, who is an actor, with Sandler portraying his manager. The movie follows them on a trip together, through Europe. Supporting cast members include Laura Dern, Billy Crudup and Riley Keough. (see trailer below)
Oct. 24 at 7:30 p.m. at The Montclair Kimberley Academy Upper School, “Come See Me in the Good Light,” directed by Ryan White, will be screened as the festival’s Documentary Centerpiece. This film is about the poets and spouses Andrea Gibson and Megan Falley, and Gibson’s struggle with cancer.
“Rental Family,” directed by Hikari, will screen on Oct. 25 (venue TBA) as the festival’s Fiction Centerpiece. Brendan Fraser plays an American actor who takes an unusual job in Japan. (see trailer below)
The festival will close with David Michôd-directed “Christy,” Oct. 26 at 5 p.m. at The Montclair Kimberley Academy Upper School. Sydney Sweeney plays the title character, who is based on professional boxer Christy Martin.
